When do you accept applications?

We generally consider applications until September for the current school year. Students are rarely accepted after Labor Day unless there are extenuating circumstances. Even if the application acceptance period is over we encourage you to contact us so that we can help you determine when and how to register.

Is there a waiting list?

On occasion we have waiting lists for 7-8 grade (please contact us for current wait list information.) We know how many new student seats are available at the end of the year and we fill those seats from our waiting list. If you are invited off of the waitlist you must make a deposit to hold your seat. Detailed information will be provided to you when you are invited to enroll.

What is the tuition cost?

Are meals included in the tuition cost?

Meals are not included in the tuition cost.

What is the teacher-student ratio?

We strive to have a very low teacher to student ratio. For the Middle School, an average ratio is 1:14 or lower. The ratio of high school classes conducted at Alsion varies from year to year, course to course. It is not uncommon to have a 1:6 ratio in advanced placement courses.

Is Alsion Montessori a year-round program?

The middle school follows a modified year-round schedule, while the early college high-school program does not (although some students choose to take summer classes at Ohlone.) You can see our current schedule by viewing the middle school calendar.

What is the daily schedule?

The Middle School doors open Monday to Friday at 7:30 a.m. Instruction starts at 8:40 a.m. and continues until 3:00 p.m. Outdoor education is from 3:00-4:00 p.m. Monday-Thursday, with study time after that; doors close at 5:00 pm (4:00 pm on Fridays.)

Does Alsion have a dress code?

We have an enforced dress code, which enables our students to wear jeans, T-shirts, sweatshirts and other forms of casual attire. The school administration reserves the right to judge new trends as they emerge on the market and to determine if they are in conformity with the dress code and other school regulations. The administration also reserves the right to alter the existing dress code based on student behavior and performance for the good of the school.

Does Alsion have a religious affiliation?

Alsion is a secular institution. We do not provide any form of worship or religious instruction.

Is Alsion an accredited Montessori school?

Alsion has American Montessori Society trained and certified instructors. Alsion is not affiliated or accredited by any Montessori institution.
