About Our Montessori School in Fremont
The faculty and administration is proud of the accomplishments of our Montessori school in Fremont, founded in 2001 and today one of the East Bay’s most highly regarded private schools.
A cornerstone of Alsion Montessori’s success is the adolescent program. Middle school students benefit from a learning approach that takes into account the physical and emotional changes they are undergoing.
Based on the concepts pioneered by Maria Montessori in the 1920s, the adolescent program encourages students to learn through experience. Classroom studies are reinforced with extracurricular activities such as biome trips, daily gardening, a model United Nations, and various clubs.
The hands-on adolescent program exposes students to a diverse set of practical skills at a critical time in their lives, enabling them to enter high school with self-confidence and an eagerness to learn more.
Small-Class Setting for Demanding Curriculum
Alsion Montessori averages about 10 students per class. Small classes give our excellent instructors the opportunity to provide each student with the individual attention our rigorous curriculum requires.
Our core curriculum includes the social sciences, mathematics, a foreign language, physical education, and various electives. Each course is interactive and designed for group study so students become accustomed to working together to achieve academic goals.
An Outstanding Record for Graduates
Some of our junior high graduates move easily into different high school programs, while other students benefit from enrollment in the Early College High School, Alsion Montessori’s accelerated academic program. By earning college credits while completing high school courses, our students get a post-graduation head start.
Many of our students are able to enter college or a university as sophomores or even juniors, with a solid sense of the requirements of their chosen field of study.
Graduates of Alsion Montessori have gone on to post-secondary education at some of the most highly regarded institutions, including Boston University, Scripps College, Duke University, Carnegie Mellon University, and various University of California campuses.
